Provision with self-sacrifice and decency.

The President of the administrative board of the new-found Institute (non-profit making), the well-known gynecologist Nikos Oikonomopoulos conferred honorary plaques on the commander of the Fire-Brigade Services of Achaia, Nikolaos Roumeliotis and on the commander of the first fire-brigade station in Patras Giannis Petroutsos and in their faces they recognized the important social work that all the fire-fighters accomplish during the year and especially during the fire-preventing period.

Mr.Oikonomopoulos accompanied by the responsible for Public Relations of the company Vivi Loukopoulou and the responsible for his office Nana Papla-Oikonomopoulou visited early yesterday morning the offices of the administration of the fire-brigade services of Achaia and of the first fire-brigade station in Patras.

During the meetings he had with the commanders of the services, Nikolao Roumelioti and Ioanni Petroutso, he informed them about the aims and the philosophy of the Institute, which they hope it will provide for the ones who really need it translating into action the principles of Plato.

‘We begin our virginal event by awarding the fire-fighters, a team of fellowmen who give their lives in order to protect lives and properties while most people are on vacation. As a sign of respect for their important offer and their work during the fire-preventing period we bestow this plaque to the fire-fighters who with self-sacrifice and decency offer to our society’, mentioned Mr. Oikonomopoulos, during a modest event which took place yesterday morning in the offices of the fire-brigade service of Achaia.

‘We give a great battle with difficulties, adversities and dangers, winter and summer as well in order to accomplish our mission to society’ mentioned the commander of the fire-brigade services of Achaia Nikos Roumeliotis and gave thanks, on behalf of all the fire-fighters who serve in Achaia, to Mr. Oikonomopoulos for the initiative and his good words.

He noted that the totality of the fire-fighters with exaggerating zeal, with self-sacrifice, with love for the Service and the fellowman, offers to society.

On his behalf  Mr Petroutsos apart from thanking said specifically: ‘We are honored by this initiative and we reassure you that we will continue to be by the side of the Greek citizen, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, under any circumstances in order to do our duty’.

He underlined that the work conditions of the fire-fighters are especially hard, as there is great shortage in staff and means, but the fire-fighters possess soul and with decency they give their best self for the fellowman.

In the meantime, Mr Oikonomopoulos offered to the fire-fighters of the first line a symbolic gift, an isothermal container of water, which they will bring with them during the extinguishment of fire, as well as sweets.

‘This is just the beginning, we will continue with actions and not words to reward the decency of Greek people and support our fellowmen who need us’, Mr Oikonomopoulos concluded.

He himself congratulated all the fire-fighters in succession, listened to their distress about the shortages and he held their hand tight calling them to continue their work and he collected the enthusiasm and thanks of everyone.
